Betty left this world
on the 6th of May 2005 after a mercifully brief (13 day) battle with
cancer. She passed away as she had lived - On her own terms. She
kept her dark hair, she kept her mental faculties, and she kept her
dignity. She made the doctors promise not to try and prolong her life
and proceeded to enjoy what time she had left, surrounded by family.
She was making people laugh right until the end, easing the tension
with wisecracks and one-liners. Her children had the opportunity to
say things left unsaid, and make peace with their Mum before bidding
her farewell. Her final hours were pain-free and peaceful, and she
left when she was ready. |

She left this world a better place for her
having been here, with her generosity of spirit and love of life.
She was a friend, wife, mother, healer and teacher. She was there for all
of us, and we will never forget her. |
