Betty Greene was born in Fremantle in 1921. During her life she was a Fire Chief's daughter, a surf life saving champion, a governess, a signalwoman and driver in the Australian Army, a farmer and an entertainer as well as being a wife, mother of three and friend of countless many who were fortunate enough to meet her.

She was a woman of great honesty, integrity and spirit, but was also known and loved for her quick wit and acute sense of the ridiculous. It was her sense of humour that not only brightened the lives of those around her, but helped her make it through adversity with a positive outlook when times were tough. She treated everyone equally regardless of colour or social standing, and was a valuable and trustworthy friend.  Her loyalty to friends and family was unquestionable - a much-admired quality noted by all who knew her.

As a mother, she shone - She raised three children, with a space of sixteen years between youngest and oldest in conditions which were less than ideal, and did so with a dedication and love that ensured the safety and development of all three.  Her family bears testament to the person Betty Greene was in life, and will forever be in our memories.

A truly remarkable woman.
